Testimonials

Practicing yoga is a journey of the mind and spirit. It starts first with an intention and continues on with dedication. Yoga's benefits are unique to each and every person because of our background, health condition and/or state of mind.

Listen to what these Yoga Vista students have to say about their experience and know that you, too, can share in yoga's journey to a happier and healthier life where you are in control.

Using the Buddy System
by Serena Layoun and Kathy Cannon

Each week at the close of yoga I take a moment to thank all the forces that got me through the day, and to my yoga class. No matter how tired, disillusioned, or cranky I felt before class, by the time I leave I am generally more content with life and the world around me. I am so glad I made it to class, hence the moment to appreciate how I got there.

Always in my thanks is, my friend and yoga partner, Kathleen. She got me to yoga for the first time over a year ago. Since then she has been one of the forces that has kept me going. Hopefully I do the same for her. Like most folks, our jobs and our personal lives seem to demand more from us than there are hours of the day. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, or guilty, or too busy to do something as essential for ourselves as yoga. The brief 90 minutes at times seems like such an expensive indulgence. Between the two of us we move the other beyond that myopia and on to class. Each of us is the better for it by the end of class. And each of us, because of class, can bring back to our outside lives more focus and tolerance.

There are a lot of forces in the mix that allow me to find myself in Lisette's class each week. At times I think of my parents, or my son, or Rob who fixes my car, or my boss who makes me nuts. Always I think of Kathleen and count myself lucky to have such a positive force getting me to, and joining me in yoga.

    Namaste Kathy.

As for me - I must say "Ditto" - Yoga is wonderful - and even better when it's shared! Namste Serena!
