Practical Tips for a Yoga Practice
Please be kind to yourself in the ancient practice of Yoga. Yoga is a process of coming into awareness of the present moment and requires mindful attention, compassion, and patience. Yoga is a practice promoting the well-being of body, mind and spirit. Do not force yourself into pain or discomfort. And, most importantly - Relax and Enjoy!
- Do not eat heavily before class. Wait at least two hours after a full meal before practicing yoga. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but not right before class.
- As a courtesy to fellow students, please arrive on time and stay for the entire class so as not to disrupt the natural energy flow.
- Do not leave before class is over unless absolutely necessary. Final relaxation is very important for the overall benefit of yoga. If you must leave early, do your savasana early and leave quietly.
- Please let the instructor know of any concerns, questions or suggestions before or after class.
- Please refrain from coming to class if you have a bad cold or cough.
- Wear clothing that is comfortable, non-restrictive and suitable for exercise.
- Please let the instructor know if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, or have any injuries or conditions that may affect your yoga practice.
- It is customary to repeat “Namaste” (the divine light in me honors the divine light in you) after the instructor at the end of class.
