Class Descriptions

All classes include time at the end for rest and relaxation. Please wear comfortable clothing and practice on an empty stomach. No pre-registration necessary. New Students - please arrive 10 minutes early.


CHAIR YOGA:

Practiced in a chair, this class is specifically designed for Seniors, people with physical challenges (such as MS, Diabetes, Arthritis, Obesity, etc) or anyone wanting a slower-paced exercise program. Yoga poses focus on balance, strength and flexibility. Only $5 per class and held every other Thursday at the Studio, and the opposite Thursday at the Vista Library for FREE. Check our website for dates. GENTLE/BEGINNER

EVENING FLOW:

A Flow style class emphasizes creativity & alignment. This class is taught with guided instruction and is a thoughtful sequence of sun salutations, standing, and seated postures. This class incorporates deep breathing, relaxation, and meditation to calm the mind, preparing you for whatever may come your way. OPEN LEVELS

GENTLE YOGA:

Gentle Yoga focuses on stretching and toning muscles that are often neglected, but so important to keeping you healthy and mobile. The slower, gentler pace is easy enough for beginners, and great for everyone who wants/needs to slow down a bit. GENTLE/BEGINNER:

HATHA YOGA:

Hatha Yoga is a series of breathing and stretching techniques to help you build more stamina, strength and flexibility to meet life's everyday challenges. Each class offers breathing exercises to encourage relaxation as well as body-toning sequences that will keep you motivated. BEG/INTERMEDIATE, INTERMEDIATE & OPEN LEVELS

KUNDALINI FLOW:

Just as all rivers end up in the ocean, all yoga ends up raising the kundalini. What is the Kundalini? It is the creative potential of the human being. Beginners Kundalini is a weekly exploration of the fundamentals of Raja Yoga, each week we will touch on a different aspect of this yoga practice, from Pranayam, Asana, Mantra, Mudra and much more. It is my hope that adding Kundalini to your yoga practice will deepen all your yoga classes and your life. OPEN LEVELS

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION:

Perfect for those new to yoga or continuing students who want to learn proper positioning, use of props and what to expect in a yoga class. Once a Month on Sundays. FREE! OPEN LEVELS

PILATES MAT CLASS:

An introduction to the basic principles of the Pilates method. You will learn the three foundations of Pilates movement -- hip differentiation, shoulder stability, and stabilized rotation -- learn how Pilates builds strength, flexibility, and balance into everyday moves. OPEN LEVELS

RESTORATIVE YOGA:

Using blankets, bolsters, pillows, blocks, straps and other “props” to support the body, practitioners generally experience profound shifts in their nervous system, thus allowing a physiological shift to deep restfulness, calm abiding and well-being. Gravity does “the work” as the body progressively relaxes and softens. GENTLE/BEGINNER

SLOW FLOW HATHA YOGA:

Hatha Yoga vinyasa flow choreography set to anatomical alignment principals. Inspirational messages are woven through the fabric of class while you enjoy fun, rhythmic and relaxing mix of music and movement. GENTLE/BEGINNER

SUNRISE YOGA:

Rise and Shine! Sunrise Yoga is an all levels class that will start your day right. Slowly wake the body and mind with 30-40 minutes of deep stretches followed by an energetic flow to get your day going. Top it all off with a sweet Savasana, so you can leave feeling awake, empowered and fluid. OPEN LEVELS

THIS YOGA LIFE:

This Yoga Life is not just your typical Asana practice. This Yoga Life is also about philosophy, Meditation, and self reflection. Classes will have group discussions on subjects such as Karma Yoga, Sutra study, the Yamas and Niyamas... starting with Meditation and ending with Savasana. Bring your mat, bring a notebook and pen, and bring your wide open heart. OPEN LEVELS

YIN YOGA:

A relaxed practice of floor postures. Using slow, deep stretches, Yin Yoga opens and stimulates core connective tissue, increasing fluidity, calming the mind and encouraging a sense of joy and well being. It is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoa OPEN LEVELS

YOGA FOR CANCER RECOVERY:

We are honored to offer two FREE Yoga for Cancer Recovery classes to any cancer patient and/or their caregivers. These classes are suitable for everyone and no prior yoga experience is required. Enjoy this gentle, uplifting class where students will learn techniques they can take "off the mat" and incorporate into their own recovery. GENTLE/BEGINNER

YOGA FOR EVERY BODY:

"Yoga for Every Body" is designed for people who think their body is too big, too small, too inflexible, or too old for Yoga. Based on the traditional Hatha style, this class includes stretches to build flexibility, strengthening poses to increase stability, balancing poses for more mobility, and opportunities to reconnect mind & body. Modifications to poses are offered to allow people with varying abilities to experience the benefits of Yoga. You'll soon discover that your body isn't too-anything for Yoga! GENTLE/BEGINNER

YOGA FOR A HEALTHY BACK:

A therapeutic approach offering healing and prevention of injuries and ailments. Learn healthy movements of all the major joints of the body with special attention given to developing a functional and happy spine. In this class we will explore the basic body mechanics of the spine and limitations during injury. THERAPEUTIC

YOGA WITH JUSTINE:

As a Viniyoga Therapist, Justine brings her in depth knowledge and experience to working with people of all ages and physical abilities. This gentle yoga therapy class will be tailored to the students present, focusing on healthy movement patterns, body awareness and improving circulation to afflicted areas. Practitioners will learn valuable tools to take your health into your own hands and assist you in your own self-care so that you can live life with more ease and joy. All are welcome. THERAPEUTIC

Class Levels

GENTLE/BEGINNER:

An ideal class for all ages who enjoy a gentler, slower class. Suitable for beginners, students with special needs and experienced students who happen to like the pace. Use of a chair is optional.

OPEN LEVELS:

Class with movement and breathwork combined with relaxing and active poses. Teachers provide options for all levels of students from Beginners to Advanced. Come and be playful!

BEG/INTERMEDIATE:

A well-rounded, active Yoga class promoting mind, body and spirit integration through asanas (postures), vinyasa (flow), pranayama (focused breathing), and deep relaxation. Teacher will offer modifications and options for a supportive and inspiring class.

INTERMEDIATE:

For those who have a degree of balance, flexibility, and endurance that allows you to begin refining your postures-including forward bends, backbends, twists, and inversions.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED:

A vigorous yoga class that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, and strength. Energize the body and uplift your spirit in this dynamic Yoga practice. Each week challenging poses will be introduced in a safe and invigorating environment.

THERAPEUTIC:

Students of all levels are welcome. Classes will address the benefits of yoga practice from a healing perspective and are particularly relevant for people with injuries or limited abilities.
